About Us
Pump Grump Inc. is the company to call for all your septic system needs!
Title V septic laws have caused anxiety for a number of homeowners with septic systems. Edward “Buddy” Juergens believes that servicing and checking an already healthy septic system once a year can help extend its life.
Buddy and his wife Wendy, own and operate Pump Grump Inc. The firm has serviced 1,800 customers, ranging from single-family homes, condos, apartment complexes, commercial buildings and septic installation contractors.
Pump Grump’s goal is to educate their customers, especially first-time homeowners who never have had to deal with a septic system. A list of services that Pump Grump provides can be found on their website. It is important that the customer knows what to expect when the “Grump” arrives.
Educating each and every customer on the operation of their septic system may save that customer money in the long run. Buddy will always suggest pumping septic systems yearly as standard maintenance. It is by far less costly to pump annually than to encounter septic system problems that could lead to failure and the expense of having a new system installed.
“We have very few emergencies called in by our regular customers,” Buddy said, because most of Pump Grump’s regular customers now understand how their septic system works and how to maintain it. New customers who call the Pump Grump and say they know nothing about a septic system will learn everything they need to know and more. “We enjoy building relationships with our customers,” Wendy said. “We want them to feel comfortable and to feel they have a friend servicing their septic tank.”
Buddy feels the key to his business is providing thorough, septic pumping and first-rate customer service. “I provide the same septic system services for your family as I do for my own family,” he said. Buddy also encourages customers to watch while he services their tank, so he can explain what he is doing and answer any questions they may have.
When Buddy meets new customers he frequently hears the observation: “Hey, you’re not grumpy!” His response is guaranteed to elicit a smile – “No, but my wife is!”
On occasion, you will see Wendy riding shotgun in the truck with Buddy. “I’ve been going on calls with Buddy for five years now, and I still learn something new each time.” Buddy thinks she’s a slow learner.
Buddy makes available to customers a usage guide “What Everyone Should Know About Septic Tank Systems,” which covers all system aspects and system maintenance. If there is evidence of a lack of bacteria, Buddy suggests “a liquid bacteria/enzyme septic system treatment.”
A member of the Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce, Pump Grump provides septic pumping service to the communities of Foxboro, Mansfield, Norton, Sharon, Taunton and Wrentham. Any questions about your septic system, its condition, proper maintenance or services will be answered by Buddy or Wendy. Rates are based on the size of the tank and services needed.
In January 2007, the Pump Grump was featured in Pumper Magazine, an international magazine serving the sanitation industry. The story featured the Juergens’ business as “One Truck Pony’. You will find the Pumper article on the Pump Grump website.
Both Wendy and Buddy welcome new customers. As it says on Pump Grump’s promotional pieces: “You’ll be happy with the Grump!”
